Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician that will specialize in Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) to join our team.

Qualifications:

  • Possess an understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to optimally detect and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical components.
  • Electronics knowledge; A solid understanding of the principles of electronics. Able to identify electronic components and effectively utilize electric / electronic test / measurement equipment.
  • Ability to understand mechanical and electrical drawings and other technical documents for technical troubleshooting purposes and mechanical machine repair.
  • Proficient in reading and comprehending technical information as presented in equipment manuals or in electronic media.
  • Ability to master machine software package(s) well enough to demonstrate its use to a customer.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Able to research technical data using available resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • An effective team player who is able to work with all levels of team members as well as with all different types and levels of customers.
  • Familiarity with industrial controls, part programming, and machine processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CNC Milling machines is a plus.

Education, Experience, & Licensing:

  • High School Diploma; Associates Degree in a Technical discipline is preferred or comparable military experience.
  • Mechanical knowledge: 4 years (Required)
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar technical position.
  • Programmable logic controllers: 1 year (Preferred)
  • At least one year in a customer-facing role.
  • Valid MI driver’s license with no more than 2 points on your driving record within the last 3 years.

Working Conditions:

The incumbent works primarily in a manufacturing facility where the noise level could be moderate to loud. May occasionally work in moderately hot or cold environments. Occasionally will perform work in an office or warehouse environment.

The position requires up to approximately 80% travel throughout the US and Canada.
