EDM TUBING

EVERYTHING FOR EDM

Belmont knows that not all EDM tubing is created equal. Over the years we have researched, tested, and worked successfully with our manufacturing partners to develop the right tube for the right application. Let Belmont show you how to improve productivity and decrease your cost with the right tubing for your application. From standard to premium to specialized custom tubing, Belmont has the answer.

EDM Tubing Type Description
Standard Tubing Our standard brass and copper tubing is extruded to improve the consistency of the wall thickness, as well as have a larger I.D. which provides better flushing. However, this can also cause faster electrode wear. The standard tubing is often selected for limited production or one-time jobs where usage would be minimal and material cost is a concern.
Premium Tubing Our premium brass and copper tubing contains a heavier wall than our standard tubing, while still providing good flushing. Improved wear characteristics are typical of the premium tubing which is most often selected for production applications.
Custom Tubing Belmont offers custom made brass and copper tubing with tight tolerance O.D. and I.D. along with important material consistency. These tubes are normally designed around our customers’ specific applications. We have found that the right tubing is as important to the EDM Drill process as the Small Hole EDM Drill itself.
Specialty Tubing

Belmont offers additional EDM tubing options in a variety of material compositions. This includes copper tungsten, molybdenum, tungsten carbide, and graphite.

  • Copper tungsten tubing which has a composition of 60% tungsten and 40% copper can provide stable cutting in carbide and other refractory metals. It is most widely used to machine tungsten carbide when fine surface finishes are required.
  • Molybdenum tubing, commonly called “moly”, is used in EDM exclusively as an electrode material in tap disintegrators such as Cammann and Electro Arc.
  • Tungsten carbide tubing is a C-2 grade which has a composition of 94% tungsten and 6% cobalt. This material is extremely hard and will give you the straightest hole of any tubing used in EDM. Metal removal rates are not as good as copper and brass tubing, but tungsten carbide does provide better wear resistance.
  • Graphite tubing is mainly used in EDM’ing fine detailed electrodes. Multiple graphite grades are available to select from based on your requirements. It is best suited for threading electrodes, punch & die sets, plastic injection molds, and aerospace applications.
